> Document Management
ShadoCMS ships with a comprehensive file / document management system (FMS) to enable the management of the complete range of digital assets required for you web site.
File Repository
The FMS acts as a central repository for storing files that will be used or accessed via the ShadoCMS site. The files retain their existing names and are uploaded to the server.
Permissions on Files
Permissions can be applied to files using either the ShadoCMS permissions system, or inherent Windows permissions that have already been applied to the files.
Version Control
Versions of files are stored in the FMS. Each new upload creates a new version of a file. Previous versions of files are fully searchable and rollbacks to previous versions are possible.
Search
ShadoCMS FMS users can specify the folders and files that need to be searchable. ShadoCMS DMS uses Verity’s full-text search engine to search files.
Tree-based Navigation
The FMS uses tree-based navigation similar to that of the ShadoCMS Site Tree, with a hierarchy comprising ‘Folders’, and the actual document file itself.
Behaviours
Shado’s “Display Behaviour” functionality facilitates front-end design flexibility. Behaviours enable Editors to insert functionality that would normally be restricted to experienced HTML designers. A behaviour is associated to files in the DMS and a range of options are available.
Examples of Behaviours include:
- Image with popup – allows two images to be linked together. The small image displays in the Container and when clicked on a new popup window with the large image appears. These images can have associated meta data text
- Image with caption – allows meta data associated against a file in the DMS to appear with the image upon insertion into a Container, eg a short description
- File link – automatically associates the document/file type icon eg Word, and inserts the icon and file name as a link in the container
An unlimited number of behaviours can easily be written by designers. These can then be reused on any file.
