Arup has designs on new intranet using Straker...
Arup is a global firm of designers, engineers, planners and business consultants providing a diverse range of professional services to clients around the world. The firm has over 7,000 staff working in 75 offices in more than 33 countries and at any one time has over 10, 000 projects running concurrently across its three main global business areas – buildings, infrastructure and consulting.
Arup’s multi-disciplinary approach means that any given project may involve people from any of the sectors or regions in which it operates. The company believes, therefore, that it is vital to be able to share knowledge and experience and collaborate on projects - online.
While Arup’s intranet and associated business intelligence systems have evolved over the past 10 years, feedback from information providers and stakeholders revealed some challenges, including:
A plethora of different styles of intranet sites with no common interface
Users didn’t know how to get the best out of the intranet
Valuable content was fragmented and duplicated
Too much information was irrelevant or out of date
There was no one single intranet home page.
As a result, Arup decided to implement a major redevelopment of its intranet.
